Lalu Prasad Yadav admitted to private run Asian Heart Institute

The Jharkhand high court has granted a six-week bail to the former Bihar chief minister who was convicted in the fodder scam.

Mumbai: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief and former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav (69) arrived in Mumbai late night Tuesday, and was admitted to the privately-run Asian Heart Institute on Wednesday.

The official spokesperson of the Asian Heart Institute said, “Mr Yadav was admitted to the Asian Heart Institute on Wednesday for a detailed medical evaluation. A team of five doctors — a general surgeon, physician, nephrologist, diabetologist and cardiologist - has been put together to examine and treat him as required.”

Mr Yadav arrived in Mumbai along with his son and RJD leader Tej Pratap Yadav, daughter-in-law Aishwarya, and daughter Misa Bharti. Mr Yadav (69) underwent a bypass surgery a few years ago, and has sought an appointment with Dr Ramakant Panda, who is treating him.

From Mumbai, Mr Yadav is scheduled to leave for Bengaluru for consultation with experts at the GBS Global Medical Institute for kidney-related problems. Mr Yadav suffers from many ailments, including high blood pressure and diabetes.

The Jharkhand high court has granted a six-week bail to the former Bihar chief minister who was convicted in the fodder scam. Mr Yadav has been in jail since December 23 last year.
