Mumbai: Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray slammed the PM Narendra Modi government in its mouthpiece ‘Saamana’ on Wednesday over the delay in construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya and demanded that a special session of Parliament for passing the Act be had.

Mr Thackeray raised construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya issue again as deputy CM of UP Keshav Prasad Morya said that BJP would pass an Act in the Parliament if all concerned parties do not agree. Mr Thackeray said that the Godhra incident occurred in Gujarat when Narendra Modi was chief minister. Many lost lives over the temple issue. “The Congress government had not resolved the temple issue, so the country elected the BJP. Yet, no step has been taken.”

Mr Thackeray added, “Temple issue has became the football and BJP is using it only during elections. After getting the majority, BJP did not construct the temple. It seems that Ram is still in 'Vanvas' (forest). It's an insult to Ram devotees who lost their lives in agitations. The Modi government discussed Triple Talaq, Atrocity Act and other issues in the Parliament and passed the Acts. Then why doesn't the BJP want Ram Temple issue to be discussed in Parliament? Shiv Sena and other parties will support them on the special Act issue. We don't know who will come into power in 2019, so BJP should take steps immediately.”
