Mumbai: In its bid to control water borne and vector-borne diseases, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) organises regular health camps, in which patients are examined and treated. To prevent and control related diseases like malaria, dengue, leptospirosis, localities and premises are inspected.

“For early diagnosis and treatment of monsoon-related ailments, the civic health department officials carry out house to house contact survey, training of public and private doctors as well as awareness activities across the city,” said a senior civic official.

Along with fogging, the BMC also carries out visits at residential and other premises to check for larvae breeding of the dengue causing Aedes aegypti mosquito. For this, the civic body has appointed NGO volunteers to conduct this activity and issue notices wherever larvae are found.
