Mumbai: An under-construction pillar on the Metro-7 corridor (Andheri East- Dahisar East) tilted on Saturday evening at Aarey junction on Western Express Highway (WEH). According to the authorities, no casualties were reported and the situation was soon under control.

“After the pier reinforcement was completed today, for the Metro-7 corridor, staging was removed to provide shuttering (formwork which supports vertical surface). Accordingly, a 13-meter shutter was fixed. At 4 pm, while fixing the second shutter with the Hydra crane, the Hydra’s boom touched the reinforcement bars due to leakage of air pressure, resulting in the reinforcement bending. The reinforcement bent and twisted towards service road,” said Dilip Kawathkar, joint project director, MMRDA

“Fortunately, no casualty took place. The incident took place at Aarey junction on WEH,” added Mr Kawathkar. The Metro Line 7 is a 16.475 km long elevated corridor with 13 stations.
