Woman, teen girl drown at Juhu beach
The victims had reportedly entered the sea to play in the water. However, they were dragged far away from the shore.
Mumbai: A woman and a teenage girl drowned after venturing into the sea at Juhu Chowpatty on Sunday evening.
According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) disaster management unit, the victims — Maya Mahendra (29) and Nisha Singh (15) — breathed their last near Juhu Koliwada around 5.50 pm.
While lifeguards present at the beach managed to pull out the duo later and they were taken to Cooper Hospital, they were ultimately declared brought dead.
Juhu Chowpatty sees a high number of visitors every Sunday. The victims had reportedly entered the sea to play in the water. However, they were dragged far away from the shore.
