Mumbai: Several students were dumbfounded when trying to access the first merit list of bifocal subjects on Thursday, as the First Year Junior College (FYJC) admission portal was rejecting their ID and password.  The FYJC admission process functions on the basis of the Common Admission Procedure (CAP), which is only online.  The issue was resolved by late afternoon.

“The list was out at 11 am today,  but the portal was not responding when we tried to log in,” said a teacher of a Bandra-based school. Several teachers tried reaching out to the deputy director of education’s (DyDe) office to have the error rectified as students have only till Friday evening to secure admissions in the allotted colleges.

Sources close to DyDe said that unlike last year — when the online admission process was solely for Pune and Mumbai — the process went online for Amravati, Kolhapur, Aurangabad and several other regions this year, because of which the system was overloaded.

Officials in DyDe office said that the veracity of complaints by students, teachers and parents who were calling the office to complain about the snag couldn’t be confirmed.
