Mumbai: Despite opposition by Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, the Mons-oon Session of the legislature will be held at Nagpur. Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis has instructed that preparations be started for the session at Nagpur, a senior minister told The Asian Age.

As per the Nagpur Pact, which was concluded in September 1953, the government has to hold the Winter Session at Nagpur, but the Budget and Monsoon Sessions
are held in Mumbai. But this time, due to the ongoing revamp of the MLAs’ hostel in Mumbai, the government decided to hold the Monsoon Session at Nagpur, which the Sena chief opposed. Consid-ering all issues, the government set up a committee comprising a few ministers to resolve the issue. Shiv Sena minister Subhash Desai said that Mr Fadnavis would discuss the issue with Mr Thackeray.

The government has declared the session will commence from July 4.

While opposing the Nagpur session, Mr Thackeray had said that he would support the same if the Nanar green refinery projects proposed at Rajapur would be shifted to the Vidarbha region.

Mr Fadnavis, however, did not compromise with Shiv Sena on the Nanar project.
