Police registers 725 drunk driving cases in Mumbai on Holi

Mumbai: The Mumbai traffic police registered 725 drunken driving cases, 166 rash driving case and 430 overspeeding cases on Thursday. Police deployment had been increased in the city in view of Holi revelry.
The police also pulled up offenders involved in 789 triple riding cases, and booked 3,919 people for riding two-wheelers without helmets. The police also registered 2,236 cases related to other miscellaneous offences between 12 am and 4 pm.
Meanwhile, some 27 people were admitted to government hospitals in Mumbai after suffering various injuries while celebrating Holi. GT Hospital registered 12 males with minor injuries while JJ Hospital registered three cases. Nair Hospital registered 13 patients on Thursday, of which five were admitted to the surgical section, two orthopaedic and two ophthalmology sections.
