One held over murder of 31-year-old Borivali man

Mumbai: The police has arrested one of the accused in connection with the murder of a 31-year-old man.

The duo allegedly killed Afzal Khan, the victim, after suspecting that he had set the bed of the accused on fire. The allegedly attacked him with a knife in Borivali on Friday. The police has arrested Kavita Kunchipurve (30) and is searching for the other absconding accused. The duo, who allegedly killed the victim in a fit of rage, were booked by the police under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code for murder.

According to police sources, the bed of the accused was set ablaze on January 19, due to unknown reasons, and Khan volunteered to help extinguish the fire. Suspecting that Khan had set the bed on fire, the two accused attacked him. Deepak Kharade, police inspector, said, “We have arrested one of the accused, Kavita Kunchipurve (30) and her accomplice is still absconding.”
