Mumbai: Software engineer Hamid Ansari, who had to spend six years in a Pakistani jail on espionage charges, returned to Mumbai on Thursday morning, two days after he was handed over to India at the Wagah-Attari border.

Mr Ansari (33), along with his parents left from New Delhi in the morning in an Air India flight and arrived at Mumbai airport at around 9.30 am. At airport Mr Ansari said that he would try to get a job and then find a suitable match for himself. Further he said that he had learnt three lessons in past six years, don’t trust anyone on Face-book, don’t lie to your parents and believe in your government.

When asked what kind of torture he faced in Pakistan, Mr Ansari said, “During interrogation they used to tie a scarf on my face to block my vision and then they would hit me. During one such instance I suffered an injury to the right side of my retina.”

When asked further Mr Ansari said, “I don’t want to recollect what happened with me in the past. I want to look at the future, I have to find a job and after that I also have to find a woman to get married.”

Mr Ansari was arrested in 2012 for allegedly entering Pakistan via Afghanistan reportedly to meet a woman he had befriended online. Subsequently, Pakistan had slapped espionage charges against him. Mr Ansari was repatriated to India on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, on Thursday most of the media persons were waiting outside Mr Ansari’s place to get a detailed version of his Pakistan jail stay. However, he did not interact with media. Mr Ansari’s brother Khalid informed the media that his brother was sleeping and won’t be able to address media as he hadn’t slept since four days.

Talking to The Asian Age Dr Khalid said, “Hamid had sleepless nights and he is resting now, we will hold a press conference soon. Neither my parents nor Hamid are in a position to give you an interview.”

Media personnel were waiting at Ansari’s place since morning but  Ansari did not give proper interview.
