Mumbai: The Khar police has arrested a person from Dhule for alleged possession of 5.5 kilogram of Marijuana (Ganja) in Pali Hill area on Saturday. The accused had brought the contraband from his native place to Mumbai. The source and customers of the nabbed person are yet to be found.

The officials said that the accused identified as Suresh Koli (26), had come to Mumbai the same day and had landed at the Sherly Rajan Road in Pali Hill to sell the contraband. After receving a tip off a team nabbed the accused.

“A team left for the spot and found the suspect loitering suspiciously. We kept a watch on him and subsequently apprehended him. When he was frisked and his bag was checked, we found small packets of the banned narcotic substance,” said a police officer.

The officials conducted a panchnama in presence of witnesses and found the suspicious product with him was drugs at around 1.30 pm.

“We have learnt that he had come to sell the drugs to some affluent residents of Bandra and Khar who are yet to be identified. We are also gathering details of his background to ascertain if there are any past cases against him,” added the police officer.
