‘No opposition on proposed site for oil refinery project in Raigad’

Mumbai: The state government so far has received no opposition from local people in 40 villages on the proposed site for oil refinery project in Raigad district.

Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis stated this in a written reply to a starred question raised in the legislative assembly by Naseem Khan (Congress) and others. He said as per the opinion expressed by the industries department there is no opposition to the project or any demands of the local farmers placed on record.

After the plan to set up the project at Nanar in Ratnagiri district were scrapped due to fierce opposition from the locals, the state government has planned to shift the oil refinery project site to Raigad

For the oil refinery project in Raigad, the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) plans to develop an Integrated Industrial Township on 13,409 hectares of land covering 40 villages of Alibaug, Murud, Roha and Shriwardhan talukas. As per the government notification of January 19, the said area has been notified as Integrated Industrial Township, Navnagar area. The CIDCO has been appointed as development authority for the NDA.

For the land acquisition by the NDA, the CIDCO has sought relevant documents from the office of the land records, district collector, Raigad.
