The man, a hotel watchman was found masturbating in front of four girls.
Mumbai: A hotel watchman was caught masturbating in front of four college girls in Chembur Wednesday night. The accused was allegedly watching a B-grade movie, and on seeing the group of girls, started masturbating in front of them. The Chembur police arrested him the same night.
The accused, identified as Mayur Kamble (22), works with a well-known hotel in Chembur. The four girls had come to the hotel for their song-and-dance performance and were practising in the hall on the ground floor when they saw a shadow behind the curtains. Two of the girls went out and saw Mr Kamble who was masturbating.
DCP Shahaji Umap said, “The girls informed the hotel officials who came to Chembur police station and registered a FIR about the incident. We arrested Mr Kamble Wednesday night. He was working there for the past five months. We are finding further details. He has been charged under sections 509 (word, gesture) and section 354 (molestation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).”
In a similar incident in October, the government railway police (GRP) arrested a 30-year-old drug addict for allegedly masturbating in a coach reserved for handicapped passengers while ogling at a woman seated in the adjoining ladies’ coach. The accused, a casual labourer, was travelling from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) to Masjid railway station on central railway’s harbour line and was arrested near CSMT. The complainant, who recorded his act using her mobile phone’s video–recording facility, alerted the GRP the same night at CSMT.
In 2016, the Colaba police arrested Gopal Walmiki, a 26-year-old man who allegedly sexually harassed an American woman by masturbating in front of her on a Colaba street. He was later produced in a magistrate’s court, which granted him bail of Rs 5,000.
