Mumbai: A special women’s court on Thursday rejected the bail application filed by 19-year-old Siddhant Ganore, son of a police inspector arrested for the murder of his own mother.

Mr Ganore had filed for bail claiming he was “not of sound mind”. Special judge Shayana Patil said, “The bail application is rejected.” Reasons for rejecting the bail plea will be known only after a detailed copy of the order is made available.

Public prosecutor Sulbha Joshi opposed the bail plea saying that Mr Ganore’s crime was serious.

During hearing, the judge directed the chief medical officer (CMO) of the jail to submit a final report on Mr Ganore’s mental health.

Mr Ganore was arrested on May 25 this year for the murder of his mother, Deepali, wife of police inspector Dyaneshwar Ganore, two days after her body was found at their Vakola home.

Next to Ms Deepali’s body, the police claimed to have found a message written in blood, “Tired of her, catch me and hang me :)”. The police said that they traced Mr Ganore, who had fled after murdering his mother to a hotel in Jodhpur.
