Mumbai: Mystery shrouds the death of the 20-year-old model whose body was found inside a bag near Mind-space in Malad on Monday, with the accused refusing to reveal the reason behind her murder. The Bangur Nagar police said that the deceased had been to the residence of the accused to meet him where they had a spat, after which the accused attacked her with a stool, inflicting grievous injury on her head which led to her death.

The accused Muzammil Sayyad and the deceased Mansi Dixit knew each other only since the past few months.

“They knew each other only since the past few months after they were introduced by a friend. We are yet to find the reason behind the murder,” said Vijay Bane, senior inspector of Bangur Nagar police station.

The police is also trying to glean information from their respective peer groups to ascertain how they came into contact with each other.

“There is no clarity on how they happened to know each other. The accused is not cooperating and not revealing the reason for the argument,” said another officer.

The police zeroed in on Sayyad with the help of the CCTV camera footage of the spot, which had captured his face and the cab he used to reach the spot. He had stuffed the victim’s body in one of the travel bags and changed his mode of transport after dumping the bag at Malad.

The accused has been remanded to police custody for further investigation into the case.
