Janshatabdi to get Vistadome coach this Diwali

Mumbai: This Diwali you can travel by train to Goa in a glass roof coach. The Central Railway (CR) finally announced it will the launch the glass-ceiling coach on September 18. The coach technology dubbed as Vistadome will be attached to Janshatabdi that runs from Dadar to Madgaon three days in a week.

There is only one other Vistadome coach in the country that runs from Vishakapatnam to Araku Valley and is a part of the railway’s endeavour to woo back passengers after the surge in air-travel in the past five years.

The one-of-a-kind coach is unique as other than the glass ceiling, the coach has panoramic windows that provide a fantastic view of the countryside.

Initially, the train will have the monsoon timetable and will leave Dadar on Monday, Thursday and Saturday from September 18 to October 30 and will run six days in a week from November 2.

CR’s chief public relations officer Sunil Udasi said, “Mumbaikars will now be able to enjoy the experience of the lush green and panoramic views of Western Ghats and have world-class experience in India itself.”

The wide window panes and roof of switchable glass that becomes either transparent or translucent with just the click of a switch ensures that passengers get an uninterrupted sight-seeing view. 

The train will get an exclusive glass observation lounge. The price of the tickets for glass ceiling coach will equivalent to the executive class in the Jan Shatabdi.
