MNS to hand out sanitary pads in Sangli

Mumbai: The Raj Thackeray led- Maharashtra Navanirman Sena (MNS) has decided to supply sanitary napkins and other essentials for women in flood-hit areas.

The party will send these commodities to flood-affected women in Sangli and Kolhapur districts in Western Maharashtra, said Shalini Thackeray, MNS general secretary.

Four trucks with relief materials have already been dispatched to Sangli, while another four trucks will be sent to Kolhapur on Sunday, she added.

According to party sources, apart from sanitary napkins, the other essentials that will be dispatched to the flood-hit areas include sarees, gowns, petticoats, undergarments and sanitary napkins.

“We learnt that sanitary napkins are not available for women in flood-hit areas during their periods. Hence we have decided to provide sanitary napkins and other garments to women there,” said a party insider.

Recently, the party had launched a campaign to collect essential materials to help victims of the floods in the state.
