Mumbai: Even as citizen groups took to the streets to protest the incidents of rape at Kathua and Unnao, a 23-year-old man allegedly molested a woman at Carter Road, barely 200m away from the scene of the agitation, on the night of Sunday.

After she raised an alarm, the policemen present at the spot nabbed the accused, a Bhiwandi-based labourer. According to police sources, the incident took place Sunday evening near the Carter Road amphitheatre, even as protests were being staged at Carter Road.

The 24-year-old , a working woman and resident of Bandra, was walking from the Khar Danda fish market towards Carter Road at about 8pm on Sunday. That’s when the accused, identified as Raju Yadav, passed lewd comments and made inappropriate gestures. to her, she gave him a stern look.
