Two labourers die in printing press blaze

Pune: Two labourers died in a fire that broke in a printing press and furniture shop in Pune early on Wednesday. It took seven water tenders for fire brigade to control fire. However reason of fire is yet to be known.

The deceased have been identified as Laxman Ram Sutar (33) and Narpatsingh Rajput (33). The printing press where sweet boxes are printed and the nearby furniture shop are located in Himalaya Heights in Shivajinagar.  The fire broke out at 3am on Wednesday at one of the shops and immediately spread due to paper and furniture present in the shops. The neighbours immediately called in the police and fire brigade.

Prabhakar Shinde, police inspector, Shivajinagar, said, “We received a call at 3 am and immediately informed the fire brigade. The fire brigade called in water tenders immediately. However, it took six fire tenders and one water tanker to douse  the fire completely in four hours. Later, the fire brigade team went inside to find out bodies of workers who were stuck inside as we received information. However both were dead when the team reached. Their bodies were moved to a hospital.”
