Naxals' were looking for recruits, say ATS officials

The ATS officials said that the accused were promoting Maoist ideologies at their level by looking to recruitments.

Mumbai: A day after seven alleged naxalites were arrested in Mumbai, the state Anti-terrorism squad (ATS) officials said that the accused were looking to recruit sympathisers for their cause from the lower strata of the society.

The arrested persons have been identified as Venugopal Satyanarayan alias Sataya, Shankarayya, Babushankar Banguri, residents of Kamraj Nagar in Vikhroli, Narsayya a resident of Vikhroli east, Ravi Marpalli, a resident of Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar in Ghatkopar and Ramesh Golala, a resident of Dombivli (east).

The ATS officials said that the accused were promoting Maoist ideologies at their level by looking to recruitments. The officials have also found a couple of posters from the accused condemning the attack on Dalits during the centenary celebration at Bhima Koregaon.
