Mumbai’s temperature to rise to 38 degrees, soon

Mumbai: Mumbai's temperature is expected to soar up to 38 degrees by next week, as per the advisory issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

The weather department has predicted hotter days this week as well. Even as the city recorded normal temperatures this week, it is reeling with humidity levels that are higher than normal.

The maximum temperature on Friday was recorded as 33.3 degrees, one degree higher than the normal, while the minimum temperature that was recorded was 23.4 degrees.

“Although temperatures were normal week this week, but the humidity levels in the city were observed as high as 90 per cent. However, the temperature is going to increase eventually by next week,” said a senior official from IMD.

The humidity levels on Friday were 79 per cent and 90 per cent in Mumbai at Santacruz and Colaba observatories. Meanwhile, the air quality in the city improved.

The Air Quality Index was 124. The weather department has attributed the increase in the speed of the wind as the reason for quality air. Borivali had the purest air, while Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) had the poorest air quality.
