Mumbai: The Maharashtra government is all set to make the formal announcement about setting up an artificial intelligence  (AI) institute in Mumbai during the Magnetic Maharashtra summit that’s beginning on February 18.  An MoU in this regard has been  signed for the institute to come up at the University of Mumbai.

A meeting regarding this was held on Tuesday between Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and minister of international relations and La Francophonie of Quebec Provinces, Canada Christine St-Pierre.

“We have discussed the increased cooperation in artificial intelligence, and other port led development. Maharashtra is already the first state to lunch a FinTech Policy and we have now decided to set up this AI institute,” Mr Fadnavis said after the meeting.

The government has planned a programme on artificial intelligence during the three-day long international summit, where experts and industrialists are expected to discuss business opportunities, job creation and use of technology in the different sectors.
