Mumbai: Doctors from the state-run Sir J.J. Group of hospitals met officers of the Israel consulate in Mumbai. The hospital hopes to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the country to enhance its medical technology.

The MoU will be signed between both countries for exchange of the latest medical facilities and research in the health sector. A team of doctors from J.J. Group of Hospitals met Israel’s consulate general Yaakov Finkelstein and discussed various issues including how state-of-the-art medical care can be provided to patients seeking treatment in government-run medical colleges and hospitals.

Dr Ajay Chandanwale, dean, J.J. Hospital, said, “We have been discussing a lot of medical care. Being a government hospital, we need to provide the best care with the minimal amount, with the help of the latest technology. If we can do that, it would be great.”

“We are discussing with Israel to provide advanced medical care to patients. Patients seeking treatment in government-run hospitals should be given the best possible healthcare facilities,” he said.

The MoU is being deliberated to focus on how we can provide these advanced medical facilities to patients, he said. It also stresses the availability of state-of-the-art machinery and technology for patients.

Doctors part of the team said that the MoU had not yet been signed with Israel. But, the decision would be taken after taking into account all factors and feasibility.
