Mumbai: A day after two unidentified persons shot dead a wine shop owner in Goregaon, the police said that the assailants fled on foot following the incident. Officials are looking for incriminating CCTV footage as cameras at the spot failed to capture the duo while escaping.

Meanwhile, the police has formed seven teams to trace the absconding accused. The police suspects that the accused had parked their mode of transport at a distance from the spot, which was later used to escape from the area. “We are recording the statements of those concerned to identify the assailants. The CCTV camera footage is being looked into,” said Jyotsna Rasam, senior inspector of Vanrai police station. Officials said that the weapon used had been identified as a sophisticated pistol. The police found the butt of the fired round that helped identify the weapon.

The deceased, Sadan-sinh Chawda (47) left with his aide Kamlesh Yadav (35) from the wine shop at around 11.20pm. Soon after they left, two persons intercepted them and fired at them. Chawda was rushed hospital, where he was declared dead.
