Narayan Rane wins Kankavali, bags 10 out of 17 seats

Mumbai: Member of Parliament Narayan Rane won the battle of Kankavli council bagging 10 seats out of 17, a setback for Shiv Sena in Konkan. Irrigation minister Girish Mahajan’s wife Sadhana led panel of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) won all 25 seats in Jamner council.

Lotus of BJP bloomed in 6 local bodies elections in which BJP contested and its allies won 57 seats out of 115 and four president posts out of six.

After getting elected in Rajya Sabha on BJP’s ticket Narayan Rane fought the battle in Kankavali against Shiv Sena with the help of Nationalist Congress Party.

Mr Rane fielded the candidates of Swabhiman party supported by NCP against the Shiv Sena and BJP alliance. He bagged 10 seats out of 17, NCP got one and Shiv Sena – BJP won three seats each. He had formed local tie ups to fight  with Sena. These results are politically important for Mr Rane considering the elections next year.

In Guhagar, Shiv Sena led Shahar Vikas Aghadi won nine seats out of 17 and BJP won six defeating NCP MLA Bhaskar Jadhav supported panel. In Devrukh, Shiv Sena got set back as BJP came in power which won seven seats and Shiv Sena, NCP got three seats each.
