Mumbai: The Bombay high court has come down heavily on plastic ban petitioners who had gathered before the court and protested wearing black shirts and ribbons on their hands. The court said that if the petitioners did not have faith in the judiciary, then ‘don’t come to the court’. It also said that the court is not a place to carry out protests.

The court has asked prothonotary and senior master of the high court to place court observations before the Acting Chief Justice to issue proper directions on such gatherings.

A division bench of Justice Abhay Oka and Justice Riyaz Chagla was hearing petitions filed by PET Container Manufacturers Association and All India Plastic Manufacturers Association, which had challenged the state government notification banning the manufacture, use, storage, distribution, wholesale, retail sale, import and transportation of all kinds of plastic materials.
