Reply to plea over BKC land: HC tells state

The petition also sought that state should take back that land and use it for public interest.

Mumbai: The Bombay high court has issued a notice to the state government to file its reply to the petition filed by Abha Singh alleging misuse of 20 acres of land at BKC costing Rs 5,000 crores. The petition also sought that state should take back that land and use it for public interest.

On Thursday, during the hearing, the state lawyer sought time to file its reply. The court then irked by the approach of the state asked advocate general to remain present during the next hearing.

According to the petition, in the year 1969 state government had decided to use the land for a drive-in-theatre. Petition stated that while floating tenders the state mentioned that “the user of the plot will be for a drive-in-theatre and amenities only and for no other purpose”.
