Mumbai: Four days after the Dindoshi police arrested Vishal Sarade (26), peon of a Malad-based ICSE school for allegedly raping a four-year-old girl in a washroom, the police have ruled out the involvement of a nanny, who was suspected to be a co-accused in the case.

The police said that while checking the CCTV footage, only Sarade was seen entering the washroom. The suspected co-accused (nanny) was nowhere near the crime scene.

Officials from Dindoshi police, who are probing the matter said that the parents had earlier alleged that the nanny, who is part of the cleaning staff, was a co-accused in the crime.

They alleged that she had helped the arrested accused Sarade while he was committing the crime from August 1 to 4. However, footage from the two CCTV cameras installed in the corridor of the floor clearly shows the door of the washroom.

The nanny, who was suspected as the co-accused was not there at the crime scene. Sarade was the one who took the child to the washroom and allegedly committed the crime.

Police inspector (Crime), Ravi Adane said, “The parents had alleged that the girl was escorted to the washroom by one of the nannies. After checking, we found out that Sarade was the one who took her to the washroom. We are also investigating as to why a male-staff was allowed to escort a girl to the girl’s washroom.”

The school, which is facing a lot of flak from the parents for being irresponsible towards the security of its students, issued a statement saying they would co-operate with the police investigation.

Meanwhile, the angry parents have asked the school management to sack the principal. Some parents have stopped sending their children to the school, saying that they do not trust the school management.
