Two more hostile witnesses in Prajapati case
Mumbai: Two more witnesses in the Tulsiram Prajapati fake encounter case on Wednesday turned hostile in court. One of them, advocate Krishna Tripathi, on Wednesday told the court that on the directions of the district court in Ujjain, she had appeared as defence lawyer for Prajapati in three cases related to theft.
According to the prosecution, Prajapati stopped attending court after being released on bail. It was around this time that he told advocate Tripathi that there was a threat to his life. Following this, she even made an oral request to the court for his safety but the court did not consider the request as the judge was annoyed at the fact that Prajapati continuously remained absent after getting bail.
But on Wednesday, advocate Tripathi told the court that she had only asked Prajapati why he wasn’t regularly attending the court and that he had not mentioned any threat to his life. Since she changed her statement, public prosecutor B.P. Raju requested the court to declare her hostile.
The other witness, Mahipalsinh Chauhan, had earlier said that he ferried the four policemen — in whose eyes chilli powder was said to have been thrown — to Palanpur. But on Wednesday however, he did not stand by his statement, after which he was also declared hostile. With this, the total number of witnesses examined so far has reached 137, with 85 of them having turned hostile.
