Mumbai: The Thane police has arrested six men for allegedly murdering construction contractor, Kishore Chaudhari, two days ago. The six allegedly pumped 18 bullets into Chaudhari on Tuesday after barging into a flat in Thakurli.

According to the police, the arrested accused have been identified as Paresh Andhale, Kunal Andhale, Dilip Bhoir, Suraj Bhoir, Shankar Bhoir, and Sagar bhoir – all building contractors. The accused were angry with the fact that Chaudhari had bagged a contract to finish interior design of a flat in their area.

The incident occurred at 11.45am on Tuesday in Cholegaon Balajinagar area of Dombivali east when Chaudhari, along with his friend and business associate Nitin Joshi (45), was at a flat in Shivamrut building which he had been renovating.

“Chaudhari had been paid around Rs 50,000 to renovate the flat which was not liked by the gang of local contractors in the area. They had fought regarding the issue in the past as well,” said a source from Thane police. While initially, it was thought that the accused fired 18 bullets, it was later found that 23 bullets were fired at the victim.

Bullets were also fired at Mr Joshi who sustained injuries and is recuperating in hospital.

The police has booked the accused under relevant sections of the IPC and remanded them to custody.
