Mumbai: The Shiv Sena has slammed chief minister Devendra Fadnavis over the state government employees’ strike. Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray alleged in the party mouthpiece, Saamana that the BJP had not fulfilled the promises it made before the elections, referring to the farmers’ agitations, employees’ strike and BJP victory in the elections. He questioned how, despite the unrest in the state over several issues, Mr Fadnavis was claiming popularity and winning all the elections. “How the king (Mr Fadnavis) is claiming that he is popular and winning all elections? Money power is being used in elections. Employees were on strike, and it was not like the Jalgaon and Sangli elections where the strike could be ended using the sam-dam-dand-bhed formula,” he said in the editorial.

Mr Thackeray alleged that while the BJP had assured government employees that the seventh pay commission would be implemented before the elections, like the promises made to farmers and others, this promise, too, had not been acted upon. He claimed that it was normal practice for the BJP to make promises before elections and not fulfill them afterwards.
