Mumbai: On the last day of the drug abuse awareness drive, the Anti-narcotics cell (ANC) of the crime branch organised a seminar in Siddharth College in south Mumbai, saying that students fall prey to drug abuse at an early age. The theme given by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for the anti-drug day was ‘Listen First’. The theme was directed at the parents and teachers to strike a conversation with students.

To mark the occasion of the international day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking, the ANC organised events from June 26 to July 10. These events mainly focussed on the youth brigade of the country, which is more susceptible to being victims of the drug abuse.

Addressing the students, Deputy Commissioner Of Police (DCP) of ANC, Shivdeep Lande said that the root cause of turning to drug abuse is drifting apart from the family and friends, and keeping secrets from them to go deep into the world of drugs. He also added that college students fall prey to the drug abuse and addiction is one such thing that if one gets trapped, there is no way back.
