Vidharbha, Marathwada likely to see rainfall soon

Mumbai: Parts of Maharashtra are expected to get relief from the present heat wave like condition as regions such a Vidarbha, Marathwada and Central Maharashtra may witness rainfall in the coming days, according to weathermen.

As per the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Marathwada and Central Maharashtra have been reeling with maximum temperature at 44 degrees Celsius, while Vidarbha region has been recording temperature between 44 to 46 degrees Celsius.

According to Skymet Weather, during the next 24 hours, parts of Maharashtra, particularly, Vidarbha and Marathwada will see relief from prolonged heat wave conditions.

“This will occur as a result of a trough, which is presently extending in the lower levels from Jharkhand up to Karnataka across Vidarbha and Marathwada. A Confluence Zone has also developed over Vidarbha in the higher levels. In addition to these weather systems, humid winds from the Arabian Sea are mixing with dry and hot winds from the northwest direction,” read the report by Skymet Weather, a private weather forecast agency. It further stated that convective clouds would develop leading to thunderstorm and rain over Vidarbha and Marathwada during the next two days.

Meanwhile, Mumbai recorded maximum temperature at 33.5 degrees Celsius over the last 24 hours since Thursday, which is at par with the normal average for May month.

The minimum temperature was recorded at 25.7 degrees, around 2 degrees below normal.

The IMD has stated that Mumbai is likely to witness cloudy weather over the next two days.  

However, the city is experiencing sweltering days due to increased humidity as Thursday recorded maximum humidity levels at 82 percent.
