According to the NRMU, there are 2.5 lakh vacancies, out of which 1.4 lakh vacancies are of sensitive safety category post.

The protest was part of the all India railwaymen's federation which had given a call to hold chain hunger strike from May 8 to May 10 against the inordinate delay and apathy shown by the Railway administration to settle various long pending issues of railway staff.

MUMBAI: The National Railway Mazdoor Union (NRMU) has been protesting for three days at CSTM over railway’s decision of appointing retired railway staff to fill up the vacant posts.

According to the NRMU, there are 2.5 lakh vacancies, out of which 1.4 lakh vacancies are of sensitive safety category post.
