Mumbai: Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma has received a notice from BMC for allegedly having an electric box located in the common passage of the building she resides in at Versova. She has been given some time to remove it on her own or BMC will act against the same.

Apparently, BMC sent the notice dated April 6, 2017, after a society resident filed a complaint with the civic body about the alleged illegal construction. However, spokeswoman for Sharma maintained that they had taken all required permissions in 2013.

The spokeswoman said, “Anushka's family had taken all requisite permissions in 2013 itself before installing this junction box so they have not defaulted on any account. BMC has just responded to a complaint the ex-secretary has put out – no offence has been committed.”

The notice sent by BMC is titled complaint received against unauthorised installation of electric junction box in common passage of 20th floor at Badrinath Tower in Versova. It reads as: “With reference to the above subject matter, this is to inform you that after receipt of complaint, this office’s staff has inspected the site and it is observed that you have installed the electric junction box in the common passage area of the society, which is highly objectionable.”

It further reads, “You are hereby directed to remove the said junction box from the common passage immediately, otherwise necessary action will be initiated as per the Mumbai Municipal Corporation (MMC) Act, which may please be noted.”

Meanwhile, the actress’ spokeswoman further said that there was no question of replying to BMC as all permissions were in place but that they would follow the lawful process.
