Mumbai: In a setback to self-styled godwoman Sukhvinder Kaur alias Radhe Maa, a metropolitan magistrate court in Borivali has rejected her application seeking to drop proceedings under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act. One Niki Gupta initiated court proceedings against her in-laws and Kaur, claiming they ill-treated her.

Kaur’s spokesperson Sanjeev Gupta told The Asian Age, “The allegations against Radhe Maa are false and she has nothing to do with this matter. She is unnecessarily dragged in this matter and we will challenge this order in higher court.”

Kaur in her application had contended that she is not related to either the complainant or to any of her in-laws. She claimed that she has been wrongly implicated as a respondent in the present proceedings.

“The applicant has deliberately and mischievously made Kaur as party in the present application so as to harass her,” claimed the application. She further claimed that there are no specific allegations against her. The application claimed that the complainant’s husband has filed a petition for dissolution of her marriage and in that proceedings no allegations were made against Kaur. She said application is not maintainable against her. “It is necessary to drop her from this proceedings,” read her application.

However, metropolitan magistrate Anil Shendge of Borivali court rejected Kaur’s plea, saying, “There are specific allegations against respondent no. 7 (Kaur), therefore it could not be said that Kaur has no concern with the other respondents.” The magistrate further said that even though Kaur is residing separate from complainant’s husband and in-laws she is directly connected with the incident of domestic violence. The judge noted that Niki through her lawyer Kahitij Mehta has alleged that Kaur assaulted her and abused her in filthy language.
