Mumbai: The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has demanded to publicise the report by fact-finding committee (FFC) appointed by the Maharashtra Electricity Reg-ulatory Commission (MERC) to probe the hike in power bills by Adani Electricity Mum-bai Limited (AEML).

Taking cognisance of complaints by AEML consumers about hike in power bills, the MERC on Friday had appointed a two-member FFC to look into the matter.

The MNS spokesperson Avinash Abhyankar asked the MERC to disclose the details of the committee members.

“The MERC has asked Adani if its electricity rates have been over 15 per cent of the average use. How did the 15 per cent hike occur and who had approved it?” said Mr Abhyankar. He also said that the MNS would protest against Adani electricity until it  refunds the excess bill amount to consumers and takes back rate hike.

An AEML spokesperson said, “AEML welcomes the press statement by the MERC. Metered consumption was higher due to change of scenario from September to October 2018, which had a similar pattern in the previous year as well.”
