The accused, identified as Mohsin Noor Shaikh, allegedly pushed the police officers and threatened them with dire consequences if they took action against the suspected gamblers.

The investigators said that he threatened the policemen saying he was an MNS office-bearer.

“Shaikh stopped a group of constables and officer K.K. Awate from performing their duty. There was fracas and the Shaikh also manhandled the officials in the process,” said an officer of Vangaon police station.

“We have arrested the accused and have registered a case against him,” the officer added.
