Mumbai: A sessions court in Dindoshi has convicted a 28-year-old man under Section 3 of the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act and under sections of the POCSO for introducing himself to a family as the ‘avatar of Lord Krishna’ and pretending to know black magic. He molested the complainant and her minor daughter for which court sentenced him to five years’ imprisonment.

The prosecution’s case is that in 2011, one Samaji Khatri, during Satsang, introduced the complainant to one Jayvadan Dave, saying that the latter was an avatar of Lord Krishna. After this, Dave started visiting the complainant’s house and during his visits he pretended that he had supernatural powers. Following this, the family came under his influence and started obeying all his directions and orders.

The complainant alleged in her complaint that Dave used to abuse the family members. Soon, he started behaving indecently with the complainant and her 16-year-old daughter.

It was further alleged that in 2012 Dave made the family sell all their gold ornaments saying they have some impurity and he then took Rs 8 lakh from the complainant.
