Following GR, MHADA residents opt for redevelopment

Mumbai: In the wake of the new Government Resolution (GR), residents of Mhada buildings are opting for redevelopment work. Through the GR, Mhada has given the option to residents of its buildings to either give housing stock to it or pay a premium against the housing stock.

“After issue of the GR, many residents of Mhada buildings have come forward for redevelopment,” said a Mhada official.

After GR issue, 148 buildings have submitted their request for redevelopment work. Out of the 148, 130 have submitted their proposals while 18 have not submitted all the required documents for approval. Eighty-three buildings have got offer letters from the Mhada authority. The redevelopment work is in process and is in the primary stage in many places.

A Mhada engineer said, “We have made the premium payment process flexible. Residents can pay the premium in four installments.”
