MUMBAI: Two days after an Air India airhostess alleged that a cabin crew of the same airlines molested her, the police questioned the accused on Monday along with three other cabin crew members who claimed to have witnessed the incident.

The police has already registered a case against the accused and is currently verifying the allegations. According to police sources, the accused crewmember, Zoaib Khan (28), allegedly passed lewd comments at the complainant, when she was on board in Mumbai-Ahmedabad flight on Friday.

However after taking the matter to senior officials in the airlines, the complainant approached the Sahar police on Friday, but did not register a complaint.

A day after the incident, on Saturday, the complainant formally registered a complaint against Khan and a case was registered against him under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code, which pertains to assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty.

Lata Shirsat, senior police inspector of Sahar police station, said, “As of now, no arrests have been made and the investigation is underway. The statements are being recorded.”

When contacted, the Air India spokesperson Praveen Bhatnagar said, “We have initiated an internal probe in the matter. Since this is a police case now, Air India will be fully co-operating with the probe and provide whatever information they need for the same.”
