Infant found abandoned in Vasai, admitted to hospital

Baby has been admitted to the civic– run Petit Hospital of Vasai, where her health is being monitored and regular check-up is being done.

Mumbai: A week- old baby girl was abandoned in Vasai in the wee hours of Sunday. The cries of the baby alerted villagers, who informed the Manickpur police station.

The police registered a crime under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) 317 (Exposure and abandonment of child under 12 years, by parent or person having care of it).

The baby has been admitted to the civic– run Petit Hospital of Vasai, where her health is being monitored and regular check-up is being done.

Police inspector Keshav Bhoir of Manickpur police station said, “The baby was wrapped in a red cloth and placed near Rojmari chawl, Chulna Road, Vasai (west). Around six’o’ clock in the evening, the cry of the baby alerted the vicinity. Marcus Daabre reported it to the police.” Ms Daabre filed a police case against the newborn’s parents.
