80 per cent of land acquisition done for Samruddhi Expressway

The project is behind the schedule, since work was supposed to start by February this year.

Mumbai: The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) said it has completed 80 per cent of the land acquisition for the Samruddhi Expressway i.e. Mumbai-Nagpur expressway project. According to officials, 90 per cent of the land acquisition is required to float tenders for the project’s execution.

The land has been acquired through direct purchase method, however, still at some places the authority is facing reluctance in giving off the land. The project is behind the schedule, since work was supposed to start by February this year.

According to the data accessed by The Asian Age, around 95 per cent land acquisition has been completed from Nagpur alone. In rest of the areas including Wardha, Amravati, Washim, Buldhana, Jalna, Aurangabad, Ahmednagar, Nashik and Thane, the acquisition percentage is between 70-80 per cent.
