Mumbai: A 20-year-old youth died after falling from the terrace of a seven-storeyed building in suburban Santacruz here while he was busy with his mobile phone, police said on Tuesday.

The incident took place on Sunday night and the youth, Abhishek Bhosale was declared dead after he was rushed to a nearby hospital.

Although it is not clear as to what the victim was doing exactly at the time of the mishap, police suspects that he must have been talking to someone.

"We suspect he was speaking on the phone while sitting on the railing of his terrace which is small. He may have lost his balance and fallen off," an officer attached to Vakola police station said.

The deceased was neither in an inebriated condition, nor was he taking pictures when he fell off, the officer said.

Prima facie, it does not look like a suicide. However, a probe is on. A case of accidental death has been registered, he added.
