Jobless man jumps to death from 15th floor of Parel building

According to the police, Prakash Sibal, a father of two children, was depressed after losing his job.

Mumbai: A 43-year-old man, a former junior manager from a leading finance firm, who was retrenched in February, allegedly committed suicide on Friday around 8 am by jumping off from the terrace of the 15-storeyed building in Parel where he stayed.

According to the police, Prakash Sibal, a father of two children, was depressed after losing his job.

The police found a suicide note near his body, in which he allegedly wrote: “Forgive me. I am taking this step as the thought of how my children managing is unbearable”.

According to the Kalachowky police, Sibal, was a resident of Kalpataru Habitat, Parel. He is survived by his wife and two kids.

A police officer said, “After Sibal jumped off from the 15th floor, some residents saw him lying in a pool of blood. They alerted us. The police team reached the spot and took Sibal to KEM hospital, where he was declared brought dead.” The police have registered an accidental death report.  

Since July, there have been a few suicide cases in which the deceased have jumped off the terrace of multi-storeyed buildings.

One of them was Manmath Mhaiskar (18), son of senior IAS officers Milind and Manisha Mhaiskar, who allegedly jumped to his death from the terrace of the 20-storeyed Dariya Mahal at Nepean Sea Road. The police are yet to establish the reason behind his extreme step.

On Wednesday, a Chandivali resident, Varsha Lalji Yadav (21) jumped off to her death from a seventh-floor terrace of her building. Locals had brought her to Rajawadi Hospital but she died before admission. The police are ascertaining the reason behind her suicide.

A 14-year-old boy, Manpreet Singh, died after jumped from the terrace of his seven-storeyed building in Andheri east after participating in the online Blue Whale game.
