Inspector turns hostile in Sohrab case

Mumbai: One more witness in Sohrabuddin Sheikh and Tulsiram Prajapati fake encounter case on Monday turned hostile, taking the number of witnesses turning hostile in this case to 62. So far, a total of 91 witnesses have been examined.

Bhawar Singh Hada, an inspector of police from Rajasthan, appeared before the court as prosecution witness on Monday. He told the court that he was investigating officer of the Hamid Lala murder case in which Sheikh and Prajapati were accused. According to Hada’s statements recorded by CBI in December 2010 he had stated on receipt of secret information they had arrested Prajapati from the house of one Chandan Jha on November 29, 2005.

However, in his statement recorded by a CBI officer Hada said that he had arrested Prajapati on November 26, 2005.

On Monday, during testimony Hada told the court that there is a difference in his statement because the CBI had threatened him of making him an accused in Parajapati’s fake encounter case. He told the court that he gave a false date due to pressure from CBI .

Following this court declared him as hostile witness.
