Mumbai: As per the fire brigade report and statement of some witnesses, Manoj Nikam, an assistant manager of Mojo Bistro, was among the first persons who tried to douse the fire but could not succeed. Nikam in his statement revealed that he used a fire extinguisher of the resto bar to extinguish the fire but it spread too fast. Some witnesses supported his claims. “At around 00.15 hours I heard somebody shouting fire. I saw fire where hookah is prepared. I went there and asked the guests to move from there and tried to douse off the fire with the help of a fire extinguisher,” said Nikam adding, “Since the fire was big it was not possible to douse it off with this extinguisher and hence I asked the staff to remove guests from the hotel.”

He also said that to control the fire he and his staff used other extinguisher available in the hotel but in vain.

“I realised the fire was getting out of control and hence I asked the staff to get out of there and I stayed back to see no guests are stuck there,” said Nikam. According to him he was there helping people escape till it became impossible to go in.
