Mumbai: Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis assured the state council that state will take strict action against every person at fault in Mumbai University’s assessment mess. “Governor C. Vidyasagar Rao is probing the issue. No one will be spared if found guilty,” said Mr Fadnavis. NCP MLC Sunil Tatkare had raised this issue in Council on Thursday.

The mess in MU’s assessment process has been the talking point in Mumbai and the state for the last few days. Various student organisations have been agitating against it and Mr Rao has given a new deadline of August 5 to complete the assessment.

Mr Tatkare while raising the issue, informed the house, “There was a July 31 deadline which the MU missed. Now there is a new deadline. But nobody knows whether the process will be completed by then.”

He further said, “Action must be taken against those responsible for this mess. V-C Sanjay Deshmukh is responsible. When will the state take action against him? Why is there no clarity about it?”

Mr Fadnavis said in reply, “The governor is probing the issue. Now, we have to focus on completing the paper checking.”
