Marches, roadblocks witnessed in Pune

Pune: A few incidents of stone pelting were reported in Pune on Wednesday during Maharashtra bandh called by Dalit organisations. The protestors also vandalised buses in some part of Pune. However, several parts of the city remained peaceful according to the police.

Rashmi Shukla, police commissioner of Pune said, “We had deployed all police force since Tuesday night to avoid any untoward situation. And hence the city remained peaceful. Over 70 morchas were organised all across the city. Rasta roko was held on 17 places. However, we made sure that marches and rasta roko don’t disrupt the areas. Shops were closed when marches or rasta rokos were being held.”

“However, later shops were opened later. Around 16 incidents of stone pelting were reported, and six PMT and 12 private buses were vandalised,” she added.
