MUMBAI: According to the report on punctuality of express trains for the week from June 18 to June 24, the Central railway (CR) of the Mumbai division has fared badly whereas Western Railway (WR) has featured in the top five among mail trains. As per this weekly report, the punctuality rate of CR is 58.88 per cent, while that of WR stands at 94.21 per cent.

The punctuality issue is expected to come before Union railway minister Piyush Goyal who will hold a review meeting on Tuesday, a source in the railway revealed.

A senior CR official “Level crossing gates at Diva, Kalwa and Ambivali are among the biggest hurdles in terms of punctuality as they are opened for five minutes at least 28 to 30 times a day.” On outstation trains being late, he said, “Most of them have been coming late from North Eastern Railway and East Central Railway in June.”
